Mary Jane Joosten, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 4:59 am Monday, November 27, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health.  She was born October 21, 1931, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.  She was the daughter of the late Frank & Regina (Ebil) Jelinski.  On October 23, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she married Bruce Joosten at St. Gall’s Church, who preceded her in death January 17, 2013.

Mary was a graduate of St. Josephs Academy.  She retired in December of 1990 from the Indiana Department of Revenue after 10 years of service as an office manager.  Mary was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.  She enjoyed playing cards, and games with family, going out to eat, casinos, and going to Las Vegas to the Westward Ho Casino.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Robert) McDaniel; grandchildren, Erin (Brad) Coolbaugh, Michael (Rachael) McDaniel, Lewis Joosten, Lauren (Shane) Lowery, and Victoria (Grant) Walker; great-grandchildren, Micah Coolbaugh, Raylan McDaniel, Harper McDaniel, and Asher Joosten; and brother, James Jelinski.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Alan Joosten, and great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Coolbaugh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Fr. Christopher Roberts the celebrant.   Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10-12 pm Friday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to Missionary Oblates of Mary, 9480 N. Demazenod Dr., Belleville, IL 62223.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left online at
