Betty attended Kokomo High School.  She enjoyed singing, playing piano and attending bluegrass festivals, but she was happiest when she was surrounded by family.  She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Nancy (Randy) Lunsford and Stacy (Eddie) Houston; step-children, Frankie D. Bates and Shane Bates; grandchildren, Richie Lunsford, Holly Early, Kasey (Malaya) Smith-Corbit, Kayla (Tremayne) Buckner and Kierstan Corbit; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Truman (Phyllis) Stout, Ella Hamilton, Minnie Reynolds, Jim (Connie) Stout, Dave (Rhonda) Stout, Shirley Laudenschlager and Terry (Patty) Stout.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Emmitt Darrell Corbit; and brothers, Billy and Bobby Stout.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to North Woods Village for their excellent care of Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Offering my condolence to the Stout & Bates families and friends. As you cherish the many fond memories of Mrs. Bates, reflect on the time when sickness, death & sorrow will be conditions of the past! (Revelation 21:3,4; 1Corinthians 15: 26) This is what our loving God Jehovah has promised and Jesus Christ himself guaranteed the hope of seeing our loved ones again by means of the resurrection. (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 26:19)
May God’s word & the prayers of others provide you the comfort to endure at this time & each day to come, as we await the fulfillment of his promises!
