She was married to Joe Mason on October 6, 1946 and they were married for more than 67 years.  Together they raised four children, Jinger (Ron) George, Greentown, IN, Jo (Bob) Almond, New Palenstine, In, Judd (Nancy) Mason, Leesburg, IN, and Judy (Jeff) Childs, Kokomo, IN. Their family grew to include 8 grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Shepherd, Chuck (Mary Beth) Shepherd, John (Carissa) Shepherd, Bobby (Tiffany) Almond, Brian (Jamie) Almond, Kristin (Curt Barkey) Mason, Kelley (Eric) Jacobsen,  and Katie Childs; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 bonus grandchildren, Kelli (Kenny) Austin, and Michelle (Bob) Atkinson;  8 bonus great-grandchildren, and 4 bonus great-great-grandchildren.

June’s most important jobs in life were wife and mother.  She enjoyed her 10 years as a seamstress in the alterations’ department for JC Penney.  As the owners of JEM Farm Services, June and Joe, along with their son Judd, served the local farmers for more than 40 years.

June was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Kokomo, and Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Naples, FL. in the winter months. June was a 10-year 4-H Member and a 4-H Leader for more than 20 years.  She was an active member of Extension Homemakers Association for more than 70 years attending their annual Conference for more than 60 years.  June and Joe were avid travelers.  They had visited every state excluding Alaska and most Continents.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  She would beat everyone at Euchre. She loved pulling in a nice big Bluegill and cruising on her Pontoon on Hamilton Lake. Her favorite hobby was conversation. She will be missed by many.

June was proceeded in death by her husband Joe; her parents, John and Nellie Dosch; siblings, Frank Dosch, and Ruby Clarke Houser; and son-in-law, Don R Shepherd.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Christ Lutheran Church 3401 S. Dixon Road, Kokomo with Reverend Sharon Walker officiating.  Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown following the service.  Visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main St. Greentown with an hour of calling at the church before the service.  Also on Friday at 7:30 p.m. there will be an Indiana Extension Homemakers Association Memorial Service.  To honor June, all IEHA members are welcome to participate.

The family would like to give a huge thank you to three very special women, whose care for both of their parents provided much comfort to them.   To Carissa Shepherd, her granddaughter, for her many house calls and unending loving care, to Laura Agness for her many years of kind caring and friendship and to Pastor Sharon Walker for her continuous Spiritual guidance for all of the family.

June requested contributions be made to the Joe and June Mason Memorial Music Fund at Christ Lutheran Church of Kokomo or to the Howard County Extension Homemakers First Books for Kids Program.  To truly honor her never meet a stranger and always be kind.

Ginger -- It was always a joy to encounter your mother June around the community, usually during Music at the Fountain in Greentown or at Christ Lutheran Church events in Kokomo. Seeing her and talking with her brought back memories of Howard County 4-H and the connections built between Greentown and Russiaville when the Mason and Shepherd families "joined" together. Our sympathy in the loss of June who served as a great example to all generations of a Christian lady devoted to her family and her community.

Expressing my condolence to the family and friends of Mrs. Mason. As you cherish the many memories of her, reflect on the time when aging..., sickness..., death... and mourning will be no more. (Revelations 21:3,4; 1Corinthians 15: 26) This is what our loving God Jehovah has promised and Jesus himself guaranteed the hope of seeing our loved ones again by means of the resurrection. (John 5:28,29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 26:19)
May God’s word bring you comfort during this difficult time and in the days ahead as we await the fulfillment of his promises.......
