Anna Jean Hurlock, 85, passed away at 4:02 pm Thursday, March 1st, 2018, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born January 21st, 1933, to Philipp Adam and Ethel Olive (Bird) Schelbert in Francesville, Indiana. On December 24th, 1951, she married Virgil Dean Hurlock in Kokomo, Indiana. Early on, she was employed at Delco Electronics and later stayed home to raise her family. She was a 1951 graduate of Kokomo High School and a member of Sharpsville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil, daughters: Sandra (Edwin) Roberts, Windfall, IN, Lynne (Jeffrey) Burns, Carmel, IN; sons: Dean (Patti) Hurlock, Russiaville, IN, Neil Hurlock, Tipton, IN, and “adopted” daughter, Vehnnie Hammerly, North Canton, OH. Nine grandchildren: Shelly Hurlock, Virginia Beach, VA, Ryan Hurlock, Jackson, MI, Anna K. Hurlock, Salt Lake City, UT, Stephanie (Clayton) Simpson, Shelbyville, IN, Brandon Hurlock, Fishers, IN, Daniel Burns, Carmel, IN, Gregory (Theresa) Roberts, Indianapolis, IN, Bradley Roberts, Indianapolis, IN, Philip Roberts, Chicago IL. Seven great-grandchildren, Jillian Burke, Terre Haute, IN, Oliver and Finley Roberts, Indianapolis, IN, Shaelyn, Evan, and Graham Simpson, Shelbyville, IN, and Amari Umana Martinez, Virginia Beach, VA. Sister-in-laws: Carol Schelbert, Peru, IN and Susie Schelbert, Laguna Vista, TX, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Philipp Conrad Schelbert, Max Bird Schelbert, Douglas McArthur Schelbert; Grandson Aric Edwin Roberts, and daugher-in-law Shannon Galloway Hurlock.

A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at 1:30PM on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN, with Reverend Mandie Gould officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

So sorry to hear about Anna! Please know your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I enjoyed serving on a committee with her at the Sharpsville United Methodist Church. She was a lovely lady!!!
