Linda L. (Weaver) Smith, 71, Kokomo, passed away at 9:24 pm Saturday, October 7, 2017, at her home.  She was born April 4, 1946, in Miami County, IN, the daughter of the late Fred & Eva Mae (Allen) Weaver.  ON August 29, 1992 she married Dewayne J. Smith, who preceded her in death November 14, 2012. 

Linda was a 1964 graduate of Tri-Central High School, and had attended Indiana University.  She was the Post Master for the United States Postal Service in Tipton.  She had also worked for Kokomo, Gas City, Cicero, and Tipton post offices.  Linda was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and cooked the church meals.  She taught Fa-ho-cha and Bassett Classes along with several Bible classes.  Linda   owned and operated her own business, Linda’s Stitchery, where she shared her love of sewing and quilting.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Northwoods Commons, along with Julie, Tracie, and Anna from Guardian Angel Hospice for their care.    

Linda is survived by her son, James Allen (TaLoise Williams-Morse) Morse, Logansport; grandchildren, Shirlinda (Robert J.) Greene, Kokomo, Corwin Morse, Indianapolis, and Alexzandra Morse, Indianapolis, along with many great-grandchildren; nieces, Laurie (Norm) Wampler, Worthington, IN, and Christine (Larry) Johnson, Kokomo, along with many great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tyler Willhite, Kokomo, and Tanya Saul, Kokomo.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Juanita Wheeler, and Donald Ray Weaver, her nephew, Jerry Don Wheeler, and her niece, Sheryl Lynn Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 12, 2017, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, E. 700 Southway Blvd, Kokomo, with Pastor Mitch Norwood officiating.  Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11-1 pm Thursday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s memory to St. Luke’s Church.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
