William Dennis “Bill” Barclay, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 11:22 am on Tuesday February 24, 2026, at his home. He was born Indianapolis on October 26, 1946, to the late William E. and Thelma Louise (Snivley) Barclay. On July 29, 1967, he married Darlene “Kay” Tygart, and she survives.
Bill graduated from Timken Vocational High School in 1964 and attended Ivy Tech for Automotive and Body Repair. He served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and Crew Chief of a B58 Bomber. Bill worked for Kokomo Glass as an auto glass Installer and retired after 39 years of service. He was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed bowling and reading. He enjoyed repairing small engines, doing auto glass for local street rods, watching the Cleveland Browns, and going with his grandchildren to WWE Wrestling.
Along with his wife Kay Barclay, Bill is survived by his children, Melissa (Randy) Chorrushi, and Melody (Robert) West; grandchildren, Brenna Ford (Rubean), William “Billy” Ford (Brett), Waverly “Brooke” Ford, Mercedes “Sadie” (Lucas) Carson, Bailey Ford (Alyssa), Jesse West, Sara West (Jordan), and Clayton West; 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and sister, Barbara Barclay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Melinda Dale; sister, Carolyn Barclay; mother and father-in-law, Catheryn and Glen Tygart.
A funeral service celebrating William’s life will take place at 12pm on Tuesday March 3, 2026, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E Main St., Greentown, with Pastor David Mygrant officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, with military rites provided by the United States Air Force and Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit the family from 10 am to 12 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made out to Darlene Barclay, to help offset funeral expenses.
