With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William "Billy" Tharp, who left us on July 13, 2025, just two days shy of his 70th birthday. A free spirit, adventurer, and devoted family member, Billy embraced life fully and lived with an open heart.
Born to Joy Ann Duvall and the late William Tharp, Billy was the cherished only son in his family.
Billy was a loving and steadfast brother to Suzanne (Ronnie) Davis, Julie Tharp, Jennifer Murphy, and Stephanie Duval. His relationship with his sisters was filled with laughter, deep connection, and unwavering support. He was always there with a helping hand or a listening ear, and his presence brought warmth and strength to the family.
As a grandfather, Billy brought immense joy to the lives of his grandchildren, Ava Mayhew, Mia Mayhew, Harlynn Mayhew, and Able Cooper. He delighted in their growth, shared in their adventures, and was a constant source of love, laughter and support.
A passionate motorcyclist, Billy found peace and freedom on the open road. His love of travel, new experiences, and meaningful connections with others reflected his adventurous soul and generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Tharp; his beloved sister, Mary Shaw; his son Harley Mayhew and his infant granddaughter, Harley Jean Mayhew, each of whom he held dearly in his heart.
While we deeply mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life he lived, a life rich with love, courage, kindness, and unforgettable stories. His legacy will live on in the memories we hold, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
A memorial service celebrating Billy’s life will begin at 12 pm, Friday July 25, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, IN 46902. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11am until the time of the service, Friday July 25, 2025, at the funeral home. Messages of condolences may be left at www.shirleyandstout.com.
