William Everett ‘Bill’ Axtell, 90, of Beaver, PA and Kokomo, passed away at on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was the son of the late George and Cora Axtell born March 28, 1923 in Ambridge, PA.
Bill graduated from Ambridge High School in 1941 and attended Duff’s Business College in Pittsburgh, PA. He went on to serve his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 through 1946. His career at Westinghouse in the accounting department at the Beaver Office spanned over 36 years before he retired. His memberships included Beaver United Methodist Church and Sunday School, Baden American Legion, and several volunteer groups.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Pate Axtell, children, Carolyn Jacobs, Thomas C. (Jennifer) Axtell, Grandchildren, Joshua (Sarah) Jacobs, William J. Axtell, Elizabeth J. Axtell, great-granddaughter, Lucy J. Jacobs, a sister-in-law, Shirley Axtell, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Gen. George C. Axtell, and son-in-law, Rev. James E. Jacobs.
Private services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Sandy Lake, PA.
