Virginia Mae Marner, 98, Kokomo, passed away at 4:04 pm Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born November 21, 1927, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Glen & Dorothy (Smith) Collins. On September 24, 1950, she married Albert Marner; they began their marriage in Indianapolis and moved to the Kokomo area in 1962 where they raised their 4 daughters. Albert preceded her in death on September 6, 1988.
Virginia attended Howe High School and was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. She worked for many years at the Howard County License Branch as well as serving as a trustee for Howard County. In 2014 she moved to Crawfordsville in order to be closer to her eldest daughter, Ruth, and then to Whitestown in 2023.
Virginia attended Sugar Plain Friends Church in Thorntown and was a member of Kokomo Zion Church. Virginia was active in many Howard County civic and charitable organizations including the Republican Party and the American Heart Association. She was a talented pianist and had a beautiful singing voice, both of which she enjoyed and shared with others.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Ruth (Mike) DeWitt, Karen (Kyle) McQuiston, Judy Frazier, and Cindy (Rob) Wilson; grandchildren, Erika (Ryan) Cooley, Carrie (Craig) Smith, Brad (Ann) DeWitt, Nicholas McQuiston, Christopher McQuiston (Sarah McClure), Zachary McQuiston, Jamie (Mitch) Wells, Josh (Michelle) Frazier, Justin (Jayme) Wilson, and Keenan (Jess) Wilson. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Mark; brothers, Bob Collins and Bill Collins; son-in-law Rodney Frazier; and many in-laws from the Collins and Marner families.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12 pm, with a Memorial Service at 12 pm on Monday, April 27th, 2026, at Kokomo Zion Church, 5051 County Rd E 400 N, Kokomo, IN. The service will be live streamed at www.hasler-stout.com.
Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s memory to Kokomo Rescue Mission.
