Virginia “Ginny” Jones, 80, Greentown, passed away at 3:48 pm on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Century Villa in Greentown. She was born on August 13, 1945, to Walter and Florene (Clark) Farley in Marion, IN. On November 1, 1964, she married James “Jim” Jones and was devoted to caring for him until his passing October 26, 2022.
Ginny was a 1963 graduate of Swayzee High School and attended International Business College in Fort Wayne. She worked at the Grant County Farm Service Agency, for 22 years, retiring in 2009.
She was a loving farm wife, enjoyed spending time with family, attending her grandchildren’s sports and events, yard work, gardening, golf cart rides, attending church and going to Bible study. She helped coordinate more than 100 blood drives through the Red Cross at the Greentown United Methodist church.
She is survived by her children, Lee (Lisa) Jones and Candy (Randy) Altherr; grandchildren, Cody Terry, Nick (Mackenzie Black) Altherr, Lexi (Kyler Linback) Altherr and Cooper Altherr; great-grandchildren Bentley and Easton; brother Jack (Connie) Farley and sister-in-law Janice Smith; as well as many dearly loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson Dustin Walker and beloved sister-in-law, Roselyn Farley.
The family asks that you honor Ginny by donating blood at your local blood drive and register to be an organ donor.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Hasler & Stout Funeral home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown with Pastor Brian White officiating. Burial will follow in Knox Cemetery in Point Isabel, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 pm until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
