Virginia “Ginny” Dempsey, 93, of Kokomo, formerly of Niles, MI, passed away at 5:54 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Century Villa Health Care, Greentown, IN. She was born on November 9,1932, to the late Clifford and Estella (Plumley) Byrum. She married Frank Dempsey on September 15, 1951, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2016.
Ginny worked as a bookkeeper for the family barber supply business for 50 years. Ginny looked forward to the beloved girl travel trips with Franks’ family, Barb, Carolyn, Dana, Kathy, Janet, Mary Ellen and Laurie. She had a special passion to keep looking young and loved her hairdressers.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Donna (John) Werner of Rochester; sons, Steve Dempsey of Kokomo, and Jack Dempsey of Chicago; precious grandchildren, Sarah (Ian) Henisa of Indianapolis, Ryan (Taylor) Wittig of Swampscott of Massachusetts, Chris (Cory) Wittig of Kailua, Hawaii; very precious great-grandchildren, Ryan and Taylors’ children Neve, Dalton, and Maia Wittig, and Chris and Corys’ children Collin and Cami Wittig.
