Ty Christopher Johnson

Ty Christopher Johnson, 39 years old, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:44 am Wednesday March 11, 2026, at Community Howard Regional Health.  He was born in Kokomo, IN, on June 23, 1986, the son of Vanessa Johnson.

Ty was a 2006 graduate of Kokomo High School. He was an ornery, quiet man who was very helpful to anybody who would ask. He never met somebody that he did not like and he was well liked by everyone who met him. Ty had a passion for singing, especially Elton John, Elvis Presley, or worship music at church. He attended Family Worship Center in Kokomo. He will be remembered for always sporting a baseball hat, hooded sweatshirt, and funny socks. His favorite interests were NASCAR, professional wrestling, Marvel, and Star Wars.

Ty is survived by his mom, Vanessa Johnson; siblings, Nicholas and Clarissa Baker; grandparents, Nancy and Jim Meiring; aunts and uncles, Sonja and Kenny Tedlock, Bridgette and Les Felton, Todd and Danielle Meiring; great aunts and uncles, Linda Fruth, Janet and Andy Anderson, Bill Meiring, Dustina and Rick Monnier; cousins, Alisha, Josh, Quinnley and Jonas (Johnson) Kidwell, Kourtney and Tabitha Tedlock, Chase Tedlock, William, Venetia, and Liam Johnson, Matthew, Nicole, and Berlynn Johnson, Mason, Trenton, and JD Meiring; lifelong girlfriend, Crystal Cole; best friends, Robby Dausch, Chris Winn, and Jason Mygrant.

He was preceded in death by his papaw, Ed Johnson; great-grandparents, Clara Wilson, Mildred and Montel Johnson; and great-uncles, Lester Wilson, Roger Wilson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon to 1 pm Wednesday March 18, 2026, at Family Worship Center, 1149 E. Center Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902. A funeral service celebrating Ty’s life will begin at 1 pm on Wednesday at the church with Pastor James Bradley officiating. A link will be available at the bottom of Ty’s obituary to view the funeral livestream at 1 pm on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Vanessa Johnson, in lieu of flowers to help the family with final expenses.
