Susan Irene Ardrey, nee Ralstin, 77, of Kokomo, Indiana, entered into the loving arms of the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2026, after a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late Richard. Loving mother of Nicola (Bill) Lloyd and Christopher (Jennifer). Dear grandma of Ella, Lena, Billy, Paddy, and Charlotte. Sister of Max (Carol), Jane (Jerry) Decius, Joanne (Jack) Loge, and the late Gene (late Delores and late Dorothy). Aunt and great aunt to many.
Susan was born April 17, 1948 in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of the late Donald and the late Geraldine Ralstin. She attended Peru High School, Indiana University Bloomington, and obtained a Masters of Library Science from Indiana University, working for many years at Indiana University Kokomo as Coordinator of Continuing Education in Nursing, and as a reference librarian. Susan married Richard Ardrey on January 17, 1976, and for over 45 years Dick and Susie enjoyed many family vacations, winters in retirement in Florida, and countless hours with kids and grandkids.
Throughout her life, Susan exhibited servanthood, a sympathetic heart, and a selflessness that belied her deep faith in Jesus. That steadfast, unwavering hope permeated all aspects of her life, and every relationship she had. Susan thought of others’ needs first, and was an exemplary daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. In conversation, Susan always made others feel appreciated, heard, and loved. Susan served as a shining example of Christ’s character in action, and was a beacon of consistency and compassion. Susan’s deep love for and faith in Christ informed every aspect of her life. She will be deeply missed.
