Susan Gail (Schaum) Browder

Susan Gail Browder, 65, of Pendleton, IN, passed away at 9:25, Thursday, February 5, 2026 in her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 18, 1960, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Harold Davis and Velma Louise (Himmaugh) Schaum.

Susan earned her associate degree and worked as a licensed practical nurse for Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC with the cardiac floor and recovery room. She loved to travel, listen to country music, and adored all her grandchildren and large extended family.

Susan is survived by her children, Jonathan (Stacy) Browder of Pickens, SC, Christopher (Stacey) Browder of Alaska, Christina (Oliver) Odom of Easley, SC, and Sara Browder; and siblings, Charles (Lauri) Schaum of Williamston, SC, Vicky (Tom) Wright of Mattoon, IL, Harold (Nenita) Schaum of San Diego, CA, Laura (Michael) Erdmann of Horn Lake, MS, Marsha (Terry) Crafton of Pendleton, IN, William Schaum of Memphis, TN, Donna (Richard) of Ripley, MS, and Robert (Kathy) Schaum of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren, Madison Stewart, Morgan Browder, Jonathan Browder Jr., Susan Lopez-Browder, Carlos Browder, Terry Chandler, Savannah Lovell, Bailey Browder, Liam Roper, Isaac Vega, and Jacob Vega; great grandchildren, Conner Hannah and Brooks Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Velma Schaum, both of Memphis, TN; mother-in-law, Martha Browder; brother-in-law, Terry Crafton; and close friend, Polly Richardson.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Freedom Church, 1361 Christian Ave, Noblesville, IN. 46060. Friends may visit the family from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to Freedom Church in Susan’s memory.
