Susan G. Gibson Obituary

Susan G. Gibson, a devoted daughter, loving sister, and cherished aunt passed away on April 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and fur babies.

Born February 12, 1958, to Bobby and Shelby (Clark) Gibson, Susan grew up with a heart full of generosity and deep empathy for others. She was a graduate of Haworth High School, class of 1976, and a proud member of Northview Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Susan spent her life pouring herself into the things that mattered most to her- her family, her beloved pets, crafts, and traveling.

Taking care of animals was not what we would call a passion for Susan, it was a calling. She believed every creature deserved love, safety, and to be cared for. Her home was always filled with the presence of her fur babies - each one a testament to her generous spirit and unwavering commitment to their well-being.

Susan loved the simple things in life. Everything from crafting (especially painting), taking care of her animals, traveling to warm places - like Panama City Beach, St Thomas, and the Bahamas…but nothing thrilled her more than spending time with her family. Whether she was caring for others or creating something beautiful with her hands, Susan brought comfort and joy into every space she entered. She gave more than she ever asked for in return, and her selflessness left a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Susan was the beloved sister of Nancy White, Elizabeth (Mark) Bralley, Suzan Gregory, and Julia (Steve) Johnson. She was the treasured daughter of Bobby Gibson and Judith (Rinehart) Gibson. Her role as aunt and great-aunt brought her immeasurable joy. She lit up in the presence of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and took great joy in being a part of their lives. Susan was the “playful” aunt…always the one on the floor playing with her pride and joy.

Susan was preceded in death by her loving mother, Shelby (Clark) Gibson, her brother Jeff Rinehart, and two brothers-in-law, Mark Dzuba and Richard Gregory. She now joins them in eternal peace.

In keeping with her gentle and humble nature, Susan’s life will be celebrated privately by her family at a later date. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with cremation.

To honor her lifelong love of animals, the family asks if you wish to make a donation, please make it to the Kokomo Humane Society in Susan’s name. Her spirit lives on in the animals she touched, her friends, and her loving family. She will be missed beyond words but lives on through those who were lucky enough to have known her.
