Steven “Stevie” James Higley, 37 years old, of Greentown, passed away 1:49 pm Friday December 5, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on December 1, 1988, the son of Stephen J. and Carol L. (Smith) Higley. Steven had been married to the love of his life and best friend, Kourtney Cox.
Steven attended Eastern High School. He formerly worked at Hainlen Construction and DSE Construction as a laborer and carpenter. He found joy in being the best uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Steven had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody in need. He took the best care of his mom. He simply loved life, people, and his family. His favorite hobbies were shooting guns, fishing, and playing with his dogs. He was a member of the Greentown American Legion SAL. He liked watching football and especially cheering for the Indianapolis Colts. Steven will be remembered for being ornery and having the best sense of humor.
He is survived by his mom, Carol Higley; bonus mom, Marie Jewell; sister, Trisha (Chuck) Whitaker; brother, Jeff (Allison) Harmon; bonus sister, Jessy (Owen) Munson; nieces and nephews, Trinity (Shayla) Vautaw, Jessica Vautaw, Trevor (Maddie) Vautaw, Jacob (Liz) Vautaw, Julian Harmon, Makala Devinney, Nathaniel Roberts, Lorene (Gage) Ballard, Kaylan Whitaker, Kelseigh Whitaker; great-nieces and great-nephews, Iian Vautaw, Tianna Vautaw, Odin Devinney, Minerva Roberts, Harper Bates, Oakland Turley; fur babies, Drogo and Bleu, Ozzy and Zena, Buddy, Smokey, and Rusty; special love, Kourtney Cox; and too many special friends to list by name.
He is preceded in death by his father, Stephen J. Higley; grandparents, Forest and Doretha Higley, William and Mary Lou Singer Krajewski, Max and Judy Smith.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 pm to 3 pm Saturday December 13, 2025, at Hasler – Stout Funeral Home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown, IN 46936. A funeral service celebrating Steven’s life will begin at 3 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
