Steven "Rocky" Trine

Steven Mark "Rocky" Trine, 71, Kokomo, passed away on December 29, 2025 at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born on March 30, 1954 in Kokomo to John George and Norma Jean (Kipfer) Trine. On March 21, 2000 he married Diana and she survives.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Rocky began his career in construction in 1972. He worked for Mohr Construction and later E & B Paving, until his retirement in 2016.

Rocky had a deep love for music and played several instruments, including steel guitar and lead guitar. Over the years, he performed with various bands and shared his musical gifts alongside Brad Swain at In His Image Church where he and Diana were members.

Outside of music and faith, Rocky had a tender heart for animals, especially homeless cats, and took great care in looking after them. He also enjoyed planting flowers with his wife Diana, a simple yet meaningful pastime that reflected their shared love and companionship.

Rocky cherished time with his family and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Diana Trine; brothers Timothy Trine and Michael Trine; sisters Patty (Trine) Steele, Toni Trine, Kathy (Mark Ledlow) Trine, Tammy Trine, and Sandy (Trine) Pore and her husband Michael; step-children Eleesha (Daily) Cain and her husband Ryan, and Alvin  Daily and Courtney; grandchildren Thacher (Kylee) Sampsel, Thorn Sampsel, and Emmett Vandergriff; as well as his best friend of many years, Daniel Caraveo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wade Trine and Rance Trine; sister Nancy Odemolen-Trine; and nephews, Shawn Trine and Stevie Odemolen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at In His Image Church, 2940 E. 50 N, Kokomo with Dale Fouch officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
