Steven W. Neal

Steven W. Neal, 60, of Greentown, passed away at 11:27 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Community Howard Regional Health.  He was born April 12, 1961, in Kokomo, to Frederick W. and Betty J. (Carter) Neal.

Steve graduated from Eastern High School in 1981. He earned his Eagle Scout Badge in 1980 from Troop 528 in Greentown.  He worked at Laughner’s Cafeteria in the 80’s, then worked at Truss Manufacturing in the 90’s until he had to retire due to health problems.  Steve was a son, father, grandfather and brother.  He enjoyed watching and going to races.  He also liked fishing and being around family and friends.  Steve loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.  He attended the Greentown Wesleyan Church, and when his health didn’t allow him to go in person, he watched services online.

Survivors include his mother, Betty J. Neal, of Kokomo; daughter, Holly D. (Ryan) Smith, of Kokomo; grandchildren, Christina, Angel and Holly Smith, all of Kokomo; sister, Julia (Chris) Wilson, of Greentown; and nephew, Devan Neal.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Neal; grandparents, Frederick & Winifred Neal and Sam & Nancy Carter; and a grandson, Scott Neal.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Tim Winton officiating.  Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from Noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made in Steve’s memory to the American Lung Association.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
