Sharrie Karen Watson Obituary

Sharrie Karen (Broyles) Watson, 88, formerly of Sharpsville and Elkhart Indiana, passed away Wednesday July 9, 2025, at Waterford Place in Kokomo. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on March 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Ross and Ruby (Somsel) Broyles.

Sharrie was a graduate of Sharpsville High School, and she earned a Bachelors in Education from Indiana University in Bloomington. She retired from Elkhart School Corp. after 30 years of service as a high school business teacher. Sharrie had a lively spirit and brought enthusiasm to life. She enjoyed celebrating her birthday with others who shared a Saint Patrick’s Day.

She was dedicated to her family and holidays were always important to Sharrie. She was passionate about all animals but especially her cats. Reading was her joy and summer vacation was never long enough to read all the books she had set aside. She was formerly a member of Sharpsville United Methodist Church where she was baptized and married.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Debbie (Randy) Takata, Lynn Ann Broyles, Kristi (Don) Bever, Kim (Tammy) Pence, David (Shelly) Saul, Erin (Terry) Ridenour, Bart Pence, Bryan (Hope) Pence, Theresa Pence, Rick (Renee) Broyles, Dana (John) Goodrich, and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Ruby Broyles and her son, John Ross Tilley Somsel Broyles along with her siblings, Jack Broyles, Laneis Pence, Marcia Broyles, Vangie Saul.

A memorial service celebrating Sharrie’s life will be begin 11:30 am, Saturday August 23rd, 2025, at the Sharpsville United Methodist Church, 228 W. Meridian St., Sharpsville, IN 46068, with Pastor Heather Holman officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Sharrie’s name to the Kokomo Humane Society. Stout & Son Funeral Home – Sharpsville Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
