Ruth Louise Miller

Ruth Louise (Thompson) Miller, 103 years old, of Russiaville, passed away 1:39 pm Thursday May 1, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo. She was born in Howard County, IN, on April 22, 1922, the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (Humbert) Thompson. On September 19, 1941, she married Nolan Wayne Miller, and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1990.

Ruth was a 1940 graduate of New London High School. She formerly worked at A and P Supermarket and at Western School Corp. for 20 years in the cafeteria. Ruth had a quiet and calm demeanor. She found joy in attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a faithful member of New London Friends Church. Ruth’s favorite past times were gardening, crocheting, being outdoors, and mowing. She will be remembered for her famous sugar cream pie recipe.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Nancy) Miller, Marcia Miller; grandchildren, Jade Miller, Bart (Renee) Miller; great-grandchildren, P.J. (Shelby) Miller, Brady Miller, Nolan Miller, Kylie Miller; and a great-great-grandson, Cooper Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Chester “Chet” (Margaret) Thompson, Ralph (Arlene) Thompson.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am to Noon Wednesday May 7, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home – Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, IN 46979. A funeral service celebrating Ruth’s life will begin at Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in New London Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Ruth’s memory to New London Friends Church and Western High School in care of Softball Athletic Program.
