Russell Eugene Kelly Obituary

Russell “Russ” Eugene Kelly, 97, Russiaville, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at his home. He was born November 19, 1927 in Forest, IN, the son of the late Orville and Martha (Name) Kelly. On June 19, 1955, He married Marjorie “Joan” Kelly at West Point Christian Church, who preceded him in death on May 30, 2003.

Russ was a 1945 graduate of Forest High School. He earned his Business degree from IUPUI in May of 1975. Russ served in the United States Navy and retired from Haynes International after 40 years of service. He was a member of West Point Christian Church, Chapel Hill Christian Church, Converse Radio Controlled Flying Club, and Converse Woodcarving Club as woodworking was his favorite hobby.

Russ is survived by his children, Kimila (Jeff) Lowry, Phil (Joanne) Kelly, and Julie Kelly; grandchildren, Chris (Christy) Lowry, David (Sarah) Lowry, Matt (Samantha) Lowry; and great-grandchildren, Lakeland, Liam, Sophia, Grady, and Jack.

In addition to his wife Joan, Russ was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Oneda Matix, and Reba Kelly; and brother, Wayne Kelly.

A funeral service celebrating Russ’ life will take place at 1 pm Friday, August 15, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Rod Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the start of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
