Ronald Lee Pelgen, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 2:17 am on Friday November 26, 2021, at his home. He was born in Kokomo, on February 22, 1933, to the late Oscar Anthony and Floretta (Wenger) Pelgen. On October 9, 1954, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo, he married Charlotte “Sue” Fisher, she preceded him in death on June 30, 2020.
Ronald was a 1951 graduate of Kokomo High School. After high school he served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was the Owner and Operator of Printcraft Press from 1958-1998. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where he drove the bus for the school. He loved spending time with his family, camping, and watching the Indianapolis Colts.
Ronald is survived by his children, Peggy DeBard, Teresa (Jim) Hintz, Michael Pelgen, Cheryl (John) Schmidt, and David (Beau) Pelgen; grandchildren, Kevin (Heidi) DeBard, Ron (Casey) DeBard, Bob (Sarah) DeBard, Jamie Wilson, Tiffany (Eric) Knutson, Victoria (Andrew) Meyers, Bob (Tabby) Pelgen, Jake (Nargiza) Schmidt, Cody Pelgen, Ciera (Russell) McDorman, Brooklyn Pelgen, and Reece Pelgen; several great-grandchildren; and family dog “favorite daughter” Peaches.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; siblings, John Pelgen, Maxwell Pelgen, Mary Lou Donohue Ricketts, Millie Peterson, Patty Ann Pelgen, and Virginia Rose Kelly.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Thursday December 2, 2021, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. In addition to flowers, donations may be made in Ronald’s memory to the Kokomo Humane Society.
