Roberta J. “Bobbi” Ashburn, 78, Kokomo, was gathered into the arms of God at 8:50am Friday, August 22, 2025 from her home where she was surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born February 21, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Manuel Frank & Julia (Ruiz) Ramirez. On September 16, 1967 she married Don J. Ashburn and he preceded her in death February 20, 2019.
Bobbi was a 1966 graduate of Kokomo High School. She had a very successful 58 year career as a hair dresser. She had worked at Catalina, owned and operated Eclipse Salon and finished her career at Jackson Station. During her career, she taught at Wrights Beauty College. She touched 1000’s of hearts and souls making them look and feel better with her talents and skills that left a lasting impression for so many.
Bobbi was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, hosting family gatherings, traveling and meeting new people. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities and sporting events.
She is survived be her beloved children, Tom (Cindy) Ashburn, Jeff Ashburn, and Julie (Bill) Marsh; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ashburn, Aidan Ashburn, Brennan Ashburn, and Josie Marsh; step-grandchildren, Koren Nyles, Minami Hachiya, and Santana Nixon; siblings, Manuel “Peanut” (Thelma) Ramirez, Inky (Lee) Mumaw, Mary (Camilo) Perez, Elena Fonseca Salas along with several nieces and nephews. Bobbi was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Patrick (Pam) Ramirez, brother-in-law, Mario Salas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Peter Vanderkolk the celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo.
