"Ricky (Rick) Gene Parton’s Story" 

"Ricky Gene Parton, 62, peacefully passed away at 6:43 a.m. on June 11 with his wife at his side at Community Howard Regional Health.  He received a heavenly body free from cancer when he went to be with his Lord.  He was born June 18, 1953, in Tipton County, to Elmer and Dorothy (McJunkins) Parton. 

He graduated from Taylor High School in 1971 and married Susie L. Hilleshiem on Oct 5, 1974, who survives.  Rick retired from Duke Energy after 38 years as a Serviceman in 2010. 

Rick lived a rich life of active service to others.  He served as a deacon in his church for over 20 years and was always quick to support those in need—whether it was with electrical work, thoughtful encouragement, or a beautiful song.  After shelving his golf clubs to be involved in his kid’s activities for 20 years, he passionately returned to the game to eventually become the reigning Chippendale Golf Club Champion in 2015.   

In addition to his wife, Susie, he is survived by his children, Alicia (Rich) Bollinger, Troy (Stefanie) Parton, and Kyle (Megan) Parton; his mother, Dorothy Martin (Wayne Thomas); two siblings, Patty (Greg) Drake, and Sabrina (Mark) Cagle; six grandchildren, Ian and Grayson Bollinger, Lucy and Annabelle Parton, and Wesley and Thea Parton; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Parton, and stepfather, Pope Martin. 

Memorial services celebrating Rick’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S. 00 EW, Kokomo.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Crossroads Community Church.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
