Richard “Todd” Shafer, 59, of Kokomo, passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019, at his home. He was born September 5, 1959, in New Castle, to Dickie Lee and Shirley Noreen (Hopkins) Shafer.
Todd graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1978. He was employed with Chrysler for the past 22 years. Todd was a lifelong rock-n-roller and a singer and song writer. He had been a member of many bands, most notably 10:01 and Uncle Boozie, and enjoyed playing at a lot of charity concerts for veterans and children’s charities. He loved racing with his son, Halen, and horse contesting with his daughter, Shaylee.
Survivors include his mother, of New Castle; son, Halen (Tylie) Shafer, of Kokomo; daughter, Shaylee Shafer, of Kokomo; sisters, Debra (John) Trent, of New Castle, Lori (James) Thompson, of New Castle, and Joy Lynn (Steve) Miller, of New Castle; brother, Jeff (Cathy) Shafer, of New Castle; several nieces and nephews; and his grandpups, Sawyer, Sadie and Charlee.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Howard Scott “Hank” Shafer; and grandpup, Dutchess.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Greg Reed officiating.
