Richard Paul Bour Obituary

Richard Paul Bour, 89, Kokomo, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Peoria, IL, on September 7, 1935, to the late Robert J. and Julia M. (Bewer) Bour.  He married Teresa Ann Molitor on June 21, 1958, and she preceded him in death on June 25, 2022.

Richard graduated from Spalding Institute in 1953 and received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1962 from Bradley University.  He served for six years in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. He worked for Delco Electronics as an Engineering Supervisor and retired in 1997 after 31.5 years of service.  Richard was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and a past member of the Eastside Little League Board and Howard School PTA.  He enjoyed playing golf and watching his grandchildren’s activities. 

Richard is survived by his children, Dr. Robert J. (Suzan) Bour, Mary T. (Timothy) Vas, and James P. Bour; grandchildren, Valerie (Chris) Dabelow, Zachary (Claire) Bour, Michael (Ashlee) Vas, Steve (Caroline) Vas, Chris (Megan) Vas, Erick (Ann Marie) Vas, Sarah (Jack) Perkins, Evan Bour and Grant Bour; great grandchildren, Berkley Wray, Nolan Dabelow, Robert Dabelow, Kyler Bour, Audrey Bour, Maverick Vas, Owen Vas, Mason Morgan, Frederick Hoback, and baby Vas due soon; brother, Brian (Pat) Bour; sister, Kathryn (Dave) Tyler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa; parents, Robert and Julia; sisters, Barbara Cramer and Margaret Fulton; and daughter-in-law, Allyce Bour.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Peter Vanderkolk as celebrant. Burial will take place in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday at the church, with the Rosary offered at 10:30 am.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Poor Clares, St. Patrick Catholic Church or the Kokomo Rescue Mission.
