Richard Howard “Dick” Oliver, 81 years old, of Avon Park, FL, passed peacefully at 12:10 pm Wednesday March 11, 2026, at home with close family by his side. He was born in Kokomo, IN, the son of the late Murvin and Elizabeth (Dunn) Oliver. On February 2, 1964, he married the love of his life Diana Reed in Greentown, IN, and she survives.
Dick was a 1962 graduate of Western High School. He achieved a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Delco Electronics and served at Delco Electronics for 39 years until his retirement in 2001 as a Plant Manager. A Christ follower and devout Christian, Dick was a member of Union Church in Avon Park, FL. He was also a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, an avid mushroom hunter, horseshoe thrower, and golfer. He recorded his first and only hole-in-one on July 28, 2009.
In addition to his wife Diana, Dick is survived by his son, Damon Oliver; closest nephew, David and June Oliver; closest niece, Vicki and Andy Carter; numerous additional nieces, nephews, and cousins, grandson, Bailey Oliver and bonus granddaughter Tristyn (Minor) Flick.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Murvin and Elizabeth Oliver; sister Roberta Oliver Schwiermann and brother, Otis Oliver.
No public services will be held at this time, but a graveside prayer will be held at a future date when Richard and Diana can be interred in the family plot together in Russiaville, IN.
