Rev. Leon Clark Obituary

Rev. Leon Clark, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019, at his home.  He was born June 14, 1931, in Randolph County, Arkansas to Elmer E. and Ethel (Freeman) Clark.  On June 6, 1952, he married Naomi K. Campbell, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2015.

Leon served in the United States Army during the Korean War and went on to work for Chrysler for 30 years before retiring.  He was a member of UAW Local 685 and Crossroads Community Church and an honorary member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church.  He had served as pastor of Losantville Separate Baptist Church, East 16th Street Separate Baptist Church, Rock Prairie Separate Baptist Church, New Fairlawn Church, and Church of One Accord and as senior adults pastor of Rock Prairie Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Deborah (Joe) McDaniel, Kokomo, Rebecca (Jeff) Harlow, Tipton, and Kathryn (Rick) Hunt, Columbia City; grandchildren, MSgt Sam (Laurie) McDaniel, Will (Tricia) Harlow, Leslie (Curt) Raab, Jessica (Joshua) Kluetz, Jennifer (David) Conrad, Jana (Scott) Tyree and Matthew (Bethany) Hunt; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Boyd (Lavern) Clark; sister-in-law, Maxine Clark; several nieces and nephews that he was very close to. Leon was a dog lover and over the years always had a dog as a beloved companion, also.

In addition to his wife, Naomi Clark, he was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Richard Harlow and Jeff McDaniel; brother, Herb Clark; and sisters, Nina (Cecil) Burtcher and Doris (Leon) Richardson.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Jefferson Manor and the St. Vincent Hospice for the love and care they extended. Nurse Mary Lou, Deb Zendt, and all the Jefferson Manor staff were amazing with their willingness to go above and beyond in their devotion to their friend and patient.
