Phoebe Jane (Poff) Allen

Phoebe Jane (Poff) Allen, 86, lifelong resident of Bunker Hill, IN, passed away 11:23 am Monday January 23, 2023, at Waterford Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born in Peru, IN, on August 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Sheila (Smith) Poff. On June 19, 1960, she married Leon Stanley Allen, and he preceded her in death on October 4, 2013.

Jane was a 1954 graduate of Bunker Hill High School and achieved the honor of Salutatorian. She held employments at Wabash Valley Bank, and Peru Trust Co. at Grissom Air Force Base and the Motor Bank. Jane and her husband Leon owned and operated Allen Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 1960 to 1993. Her memberships included Miami County Historical Society, Northwest Indiana Carriage and Sleigh Association, Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. Jane was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Bunker Hill Order of Eastern Star #565 and Past President of the Deer Creek Do-Ettes.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Linda (Scott) Comfort; granddaughter, Amanda (Paul) Freeman; great-grandchildren, Odin Freeman, Orion Freeman, Odessa Freeman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Sheila Poff; husband, Leon Allen; brother and sister-in-law, Karold (Pauline) Allen.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday January 31, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street, Russiaville, IN 46979. Funeral service will begin 1 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Evan Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill.
