Obituary

Peggy Sue Denton, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on May 19,2023. She was born on May 2, 1940, in Tipton, Indiana to Lewis R. Burgan and Jennie J. Foutch. She was blessed to have a wonderful stepfather at the age of 8 who she loved dearly, Chester L. Songer. On September 26,1958 she married the love of her life, Robert L. Denton. They were married for 61 loving years. He proceeded her in death.

Peggy graduated from Plainfield High School in 1958. She was primarily a homemaker with the exception of being a teacher's aide and working at South Side Feed. She loved to camp with friends, snowmobile and attend bluegrass festivals. Her favorite times were fishing with her husband and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her three children, Robert (Kathy) Denton Jr., Terry (Karen) Denton, Jennifer (Kirk) Paprocki. Grandchildren, Robert (Ashley) Denton III, Barry Denton, Chelsea (Stew) Matlock, Blake Denton, Jeffrey (Hannah) McKay, Noah (Megan Miller) Paprocki and Jake (Nargiza) Schmidt. Great grandchildren, Baley and Brayden Matlock, Gannon Denton, Patrick and Peter McKay, Paisley and Brody Denton and Taylor Schmidt; brother-in-law Jim Kesterson; nieces and nephew Diana TenBrook, Melinda Kesterson and Jim (Karen) Kesterson.  She is also survived by many loving cousins, The Foutch’s, Roe’s and Ridgeway’s. Peggy had many special friends, Teresa Bowe, Katrina Bennett, Susie Frazier, Shirley Childers, Linda Ousley, Irene Herschberger, Kim Foster and Kathy Landgrave.

The family would like to specially thank Guardian Angels Hospice, nurses Terry and Angie, Katrina, Teresa and Kim for all the love and support they offered while Peggy was on hospice care.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 7 pm Thursday May 25, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday May 26, 2023, at the funeral home, with Pastor Lynn Brust and Gene Frazier officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. Memorial Contributions can be made in Peggy’s name by writing a check to In Stitches, please add In Stitches with Deb to the memo line of your check or by donating Joanne Fabric or Hobby Lobby gift cards. The website is institcheswithdeb.com. In Stitches With Deb is a community sewing ministry that provides designer gowns for hospice patients. Peggy really loved the special gowns she was provided.
