Pansy Crites Obituary

Pansy Marie Crites, 91, of Greentown, passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at North Woods Village in Kokomo.  She was born October 2, 1931, in West Plains, Missouri, to Clarence and Jessie (Reeves) Reed.  On August 6, 1949, she married Larry Crites, in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1990.

Pansy attended Eastern High School, where she loved learning to sew and cook in Home Economics class. One of her favorite places was the library, since she loved to read.  She worked at Delco for several years and helped Larry run his automotive shop.  Pansy enjoyed fishing and hunting for mushrooms. She was a loving and generous person and made many lasting friendships during the years she ran her own ceramic shop. In recent years, she made blankets and donated many to children in the community. She cherished being a mom and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always made sure to have her signature cookies on the table for the great-grandchildren’s visits.

Pansy is survived by her children, Brenda Kaiser, and Steve (Janice) Crites; grandchildren, Reed (Amanda) Kaiser, Jeremy (Andrea) Kaiser, Amber Crites, Joshua (Alison) Crites and Daniel (Kali) Crites; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elmo Reed, and sisters, Millie Myers and Lillian Butler.

No public services will be held.  Cremation has been entrusted to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home in Kokomo.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
