Norman John Bailey, 71, of Kokomo, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent – Indianapolis with his wife at his side. He was born September 19, 1954, in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of J.L. and Marjorie (Worman) Bailey. On February 12, 2001, in Key West, Florida, he married Julie E. Andreas, and she survives.
Norman graduated from Kokomo High School in 1972. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Carrier. Norman previously worked at Clark Oil, McClains Trucking, Vega Construction, and Evans Bottle Shop. Norman was a racing enthusiast and flagman extraordinaire at the Kokomo Speedway, Crown Point Speedway, and Montpelier Speedway. His love of racing led Norman to become an owner and promoter of the Miami County Speedway. He was a Parrothead that enjoyed scuba diving and was known to be a charcuterie king. Norman was wonderful storyteller who will be missed by many.
Along with his wife, Julie Bailey, Norman is survived by brother, Jeff (Susie) Bailey; uncle, James (Margie) Stroup; and cousins, Kathy Brannon, and Chris Kvidera.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Mac & Shirley Andreas.
Norman’s celebration of life gathering will pause for a service at 5:30 pm Monday, November 17, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd. Kokomo, with Chaplain David Cochran officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3:00 pm until service time and following the service until 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
