Norman McGill

Norman McGill 88, of Burlington passed away while surrounded by his family at 7:53 am on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville. He was born on June 13, 1926 to Ben and Lena (Robertson) McGill. On August 23, 1947 Norman married Barbara McIlrath who survives. 

Norman was in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1945 and served in the South Pacific. He was on the Burlington Town Board for 9 years. He was a farmer from 1947 to 1990, he and his wife owned BJ Painting Company for 20 years and worked for Clinton Central School Corporation. Norman was a member of Burlington Methodist Church. 
 
Norman enjoyed square dancing, traveling, camping, sitting on the front porch watching the traffic go by and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Barbara McGill of Burlington; sons Dan (Sally) McGill of Lafayette, Dana (Cathy) McGill of Forest; daughters Vickie (Fred) Kelly of Washington, TX, Dee Dee Kingery of Frankfort; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Lena McGill and a granddaughter Katie McGill.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Stout & Son Funeral Home Neptune Chapel at 44 Michigan St. Burlington with one hour of calling prior to the funeral service. Military Funeral Honors Ceremony will be performed at the burial following the funeral service at Burlington Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family from 4 to 8 pm on Friday at the funeral home in Burlington.. Memorials in Norman's memory can be sent to Burlington Methodist Church or Burlington Church of Christ Food Pantry.
