Nicholas Loffredo Obituary

Nicholas L. Loffredo Sr., 65, Kokomo, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, in an automobile accident in Grant County. He was born April 4, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Nicholas Anthony and Elizabeth Keene (Ferris) Loffredo. On Dec. 23, 1965, in Covington, Ky., he married Charlene R. Lawwill, who survives.

Nick was a Navy veteran of Vietnam. Following his service in the Navy, Nick continued his education, earning his GED in 1968 and his Practical Nursing License in 1989. He retired from General Motors in 1999 after more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of New Life Assembly Church, the Masonic Lodge, Goodfellows, and U.A.W. Local 292. His veterans organization memberships included the V.F.W., Posts 8035 and 1152, Am Vets, American Legion Posts 317 and 6, the 40 and 8, Marine Corps League, H.C.V.V.C., H.C.V.M.C., Veterans Committee of the U.A.W. Local 292, H.C.V.C., D.A.V., Region 3 Veterans Council, and the Patriot Guard. He enjoyed motorcycling and was active in several groups, including, the Marine Corps Riders, V.F.W. Post 1152 Riders, American Legion Post 6 Riders, Rolling Thunder Riders, ABATE Riders and the Asphalt Templars.

Nick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlene Loffredo; their two children, Gina Jonson and husband Soterios of Hamilton, Ohio, Nicholas Louis Loffredo Jr. and wife Ronda of Yuma, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Alexia and Dominic Jonson and Vincent Loffredo; two sisters, Grace Fey and husband, Lt. Col. Ronald Fey Sr., U.S.A.F. Ret., Antoinette Alice Loffredo, Texas; one nephew, Lt. Col Ronald Fey, Jr., U.S.A.F.; three nieces, Stephanie Rowe, Danielle Costa, Rachael Connelly.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with the Rev. Randy Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the Kokomo V.F.W. Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan Care Givers or to the Kokomo V.F.W. Military Rites Team.
