MILDRED “MILLIE” BROWN

Our beloved Millie, 86, went to be with the Lord at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Wellbrooke in Kokomo.  She was born on July 14, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Phillip and Dorothy McNamar.  She married Lawrence E. Brown on July 12, 1952 in Portage, IN.

Millie graduated from Portage High School.  She worked in the Taylor school system and retired as a secretary from Taylor Elementary.  She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a devout Christian and a member of Oakbrook Community Church.  She was formerly a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.  Millie loved God and was a collector of ornamental angels. 

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Rick) Roe, Chris (Dan) Lawlyes of Kokomo, a son, Neal (Debbie) Brown of Palm Harbor, FL; six grand-children, Emily (Brant) Parry, Kevin (Amy) Roe, Ian (Kristin) Brown, Kayli (Andrew) Baker, Trent Lawlyes and Connor Lawlyes; five great grand-children, Greyson Bolding, Eli and Iris Roe, Kingston Parry, and Kole Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Charlotte Brown and Dorothy Orfino. 

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30.  Pastor Mark Malin will officiate.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Millie’s memory to Valley of Grace, 4604 Mayfield Dr., Kokomo, Indiana 46901.
