Michael Patrick Kelley, 40, Kokomo, passed away on Monday October 3, 2022, at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born on August 19, 1982, the son of Thomas and Virginia (Zapata) Kelley. On September 20, 2008, in a ceremony officiated by his aunt Libby Cierzniak, he married Mandy Crawford at his parent’s farm, and she survives.
A 2001 graduate of Northwestern High School he was able to further his passion for all things mechanical through the automotive technology program at Ivy Tech College. He had been employed by Erik’s Chevrolet and NHK before joining the team at Coan Engineering. It was his dream job; helping build transmissions and converters for the motor sports industry. When he wasn’t at work you could often find him in his garage underneath some European car or another. His award-winning cars won attention throughout the Midwest.
In his youth, Michael was involved in the Boy Scouts Program and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a kind, forgiving, strong and gentle. He had the girl of his dreams, two daughters he adored, the greatest career he could imagine and a house just a few doors away from his first best friend; his sister Annie. A good life by most any account. He smiled right up until his last breath; grateful for all the love and blessings which had been given to him.
Along with his wife, Mandy, Michael is survived by his daughters, Maci, and Morgan; sister, Annie (Grant) Robb; father and stepmother, Thomas, and Teresa; mother and father-in-law, Leslie and Mike Huffman; sister-in-law, Hayley (Chris) Johnson; nieces, Raegen Robb, Addy Robb, Jillian Johnson, and Natalie Johnson; nephews, Grant Robb, and Brayden Bass.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Kelley; and one of his best friends, Jared McHenry.
