Max Edward Brumfiel, 78, Kokomo, passed away at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He was born on December 11, 1946, to the late Elsie Marie (Brumfiel) Goshern and the late Otis Darnell Sharp. In Forest, Indiana, on January 26, 1985, he married the love of his life Elizabeth Louise Bray, and she survives.
Max worked for Millbank Manufacturing for 35 years as a Press Operator until his retirement in 1995. He loved fishing and carpentry; he was always building different things. He also enjoyed time spent in his “Man Cave” in the garage. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as his furry babies Monie and Dinky.
Along with his wife, Louise, Max is survived by his children, Darla (Bob) Pattengale, Recinda Brumfiel, Tabitha (Mike) Jenkins, Catina Heath; grandchildren, Robbie (Stephanie) Pattengale, Neamiah Hill, Jason (Tram) Pattengale, Dustin Jenkins, Joseph (Jill) Hill, Lauren (Austin) Rutherford, Jared Jenkins, Evan (Kaylee) Pattengale, Lance (Hannah) Brumfiel, Austin (Jasmine) Jenkins, Correll Heath, Carighan Heath, and Chelsa Snyder (Cody Vessels); several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as several siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Walter and Elizabeth Bray; son, Jerry Hill; grandson, Colton Heath-Brumfiel, brothers, John Brumfiel, Ernest “Butch” Sharp and other siblings.
A funeral service celebrating Max’s life will take place at 2pm on Monday October 6, 2025, Shirley & Stout Funeral Home-Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W Jefferson Road, Kokomo. Burial will follow in South Union Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12 pm until the start of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
