Master Sergeant Billy Gwen Wallen (ARNG-Ret.) lost his year-long battle with cancer on 15 AUG 2025. He was a soldier for 37 years and was deployed to Iraq in 2007 where he was exposed to burn pits, the source of his, and several of his brothers-in-arms, cancer.
Bill was an avid motorcyclist and was known to take long-distance rides with his son BJ, his girlfriend Myrna, and many friends. He was passionate about hot rods and could tell you the year, make, and model of any one of them after just a glance. He was the proud owner of a 1957 Chevrolet 210 Wagon and a 1966 Chevrolet C10 truck, both of which were significant in his early years. Bill also loved grass-roots, dirt-track racing. He raced with friends at Kokomo Speedway for many years and often frequented race tracks in the Midwest to watch sprint car, late model, and modified races.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 20 AUG 2025, from 1000-1200 at Stout & Son Funeral Home Sharpsville Chapel, 204 N. Church St., Sharpsville, with a Veteran's memorial service to follow immediately thereafter. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Bill wished to be cremated.
