Mary Katherine Peel

Mary Katherine Peel, 91, of Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Primrose Assisted Living. She was born on January 14, 1935, the daughter of Clarence L. and R. Maude (Francis) Orem. On September 28, 1958, she married Max Eugene Peel in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on January 28, 2021.

Mary was a 1953 graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked as a church secretary at First Baptist Church and Parr United Methodist Church. Mary was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and was active in her Sunday School Class and bible study.

Mary is survived by her children, Michael Peel of North Carolina and Nicole Peel of Kokomo; and grandson, Christian Peel of Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Peel; sister, Wayoneta Kemp; and brother, Jim Orem.

Nicole would also like to thank all of the staff at Primrose Retirement Community for the excellent care that Mom received over the past 2.5 years and Paradigm Hospice Care for their care the past year.

A funeral service will be held celebrating Mary’s life at 1 pm, Friday, January 23, 2026, at One Church 2734 S Washington, Kokomo, IN with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 am to 1 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to One Church or the Kokomo Humane Society.
