Mary Juanita Sheffer, 98, Forest, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. She was born July 28, 1921, in Clinton County, to Charles and Faye (Merrick) Orem. She married William E. Sheffer on May 2, 1943, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1945.
Mary graduated from Forest High School in 1940 and worked for Delco Electronics for 37 years before retiring in 1978. She volunteered at Clinton Central Elementary School and Howard Community Hospital and was a member of the Russiaville Order of Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, UAW Local 292, and Union Baptist Church and attended Faith Church of Christ in Burlington.
She is survived by her son, Bob (Carol) Sheffer; grandchildren, Bill (Shelly) Sheffer, Pam (Joe) Snyder and Heidi Sheffer; great-grandchildren, Asa, Guy, Robbie, Spencer, J.D. and Carley; sister, Vivian Karr; and brother, Leon (Julia Ann) Orem; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Dwight Orem, Joe Orem, Kenneth Orem, Ralph Orem, Ruth Tucker, Donald Orem, Merle Orem, and Joyce Adams.
The Sheffer Family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital and the wonderful, loving, and friendly staff at Wellbrooke of Kokomo, Mary Juanita was in the best of care.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
