Mary Ann Schwartz

Mary Ann Schwartz, 87, Kokomo, passed away at 6:35 am Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo.  She was born October 14, 1934, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Ralph & Thelma (Lett) Peters. 

Mary Ann was a 1952 graduate of Eastern High School.  She then went on to receive her Nursing degree from Indiana University in 1969.  She had worked as a nurse for Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo and Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale Florida for 15 years.  Mary Ann was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  She loved to sew, cook, entertain friends and play Bridge.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Rex (Kathy) Riggs, Robin (Sandy) Riggs and Nancy Riggs, along with 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, August 6, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 W. 200 S., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Stephen Duquaine the celebrant.  Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. The Nursing Honor Guard will have a ceremony at 7:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ann’s memory to the Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing or Community Howard Foundation-Labor & Delivery.
