Mary C. Beatty

Mary C. Beatty, 90, Shelby Township, MI, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 1:20 am Monday, May 9, 2022, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Michigan.  She was born March 12, 1932, in Randolph County Arkansas, to the late John H. & Anna (McGee) Cox.  On July 1, 1956, at the Beamer Methodist Church in Kokomo, she married Kenneth Richard Beatty who preceded her in death on July 30, 2003.

Mary was a 1950 graduate of Northwestern High School.  She retired from Continental Steel after 16 years of service where she worked in the office.  Mary attended Crossroads Community Church.  She was a professional artist and served as past president of the Kokomo Art Association and participated in national art shows.

Mary is survived by her children, Frank E. Beatty (Jennifer) Beatty of Georgetown, TX and Laura A. (Gary) Mitchell of Shelby Township, MI; grandchildren, Lucy Beatty of Westminster, CO, Logan Beatty of Fort Worth, TX, Emily Mitchell of Shelby Township, MI and Jacob Mitchell of Shelby Township, MI; siblings, Clyde (Polly) Cox, Harold Cox, Ginny (Ray) Riley, Floyd (Judy) Cox, David (Susan) Cox and Erwin (Loretta) Cox, along with many special nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and brothers, John Cox, Jr. and Grover Cox.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Rev. Ron DeGraaff officiating.  Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Clinton-Macomb Public Library to benefit the Macomb Library for the Blind which provided much loved audio books to Mary.
