Marvin Buntain Obituary

Marvin Keith Buntain, 83, Kokomo, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Thursday, November 4th, 2021. He was born in Williams County, Ohio on May 14, 1938 to the late Charles and Bonneita (Clymer) Buntain. Marvin is survived by his daughters Julie (Brent) Heitz of Toledo, Ohio, Sheila Richardson of Kokomo, grandson Ryan Richardson of Kokomo and sister Janet Funk of Bryan, OH. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as very good friends (you know who you are).

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Mitchell Bundy, brother Wayne Buntain and sister Sharon Nisley.

Dad was an avid Amateur Radio Operator (W8JLH) and enjoyed meeting his Ham Radio friends twice a month for breakfast and traveling to area Hamfests to see good friends who lived further away. Dad loved tinkering with fixing things around the house. He was most happy when he was kept busy and loved being a problem solver. He spent many hours creating craft tools for his daughters beading endeavors, leaving little Morse code messages on them. When asked why he decorated the tools, he’d reply that he wanted to give the person using them a reason to smile. He’ll be remembered for making the people and nurses in the Ascension Pulmonary Rehabilitation facility smile when he’d wear his mismatched novelty socks with his bib overalls. That was his latest and last way of brightening up someone’s day. Dad had quite the sense of humor (it is what it is) and will be missed immensely by his friends and family.

Dad had retired from the ARO Corporation in Bryan, Ohio where he was a machinist. Born and raised in Bryan, OH, he moved to Kokomo, IN in 2012 to live with his daughter after he survived lung cancer.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Stout & Son Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.stoutandson.com,

Thank you to Premier Hospice for helping keep Dad comfortable in his last days.  “Being called by Heaven, this is W8JLH signing off, 73.”
