Marjorie Ann Butts, 87, Kokomo, passed away at 11:24 pm on June 17, 2022, in her home. She was born on April 1, 1935, to the late Raymond and Jennie (Murphy) Richey. On August 27, 1960, she married Eldon Leroy Butts, he preceded her in death on December 1, 1980.
Marjorie babysat in her home for several years, she was a cook at Nanny’s Daycare, but her favorite job was at Hank’s Supermarket. She enjoyed doing puzzles and ceramics. She had a special bond with her great grandkids Naomi and Tra’. She loved getting hugs from “Nomi Nomi”, and when Tra’ got off the bus he always walked to her apartment for a snack, and she would tell him “have I told you lately that I love you?”.
Marjorie is survived by her children, David (Shelley) Butts and Laura Moore Oldfather; grandchildren, Leslie M. Moore, Shelby R. Collins, Shawnee L. Butts, Jessie D. Butts, Karlie F. Pell, Shane M. Pell, and Victoria C. Bogue; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Myers; sister-in-law, Lorraine Meeks; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandchild, Kain P. Strong; siblings, Donald Gene Richey, Erma Hoover, Donna Marie Newlin, Doris Pyle, Harold Richey, and Roger Richey; and sister-in-law and best friend, Barbara Butts.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Vossberg and staff and Southern Care Hospice. Marjorie absolutely loved her hospice nurse, Jeff (Steve) Louks, RN.
A celebration of life will take place from 3 pm to 7 pm on Saturday June 25, 2022, at 3150 Vinton Circle (The Club House). Shirley & Stout Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation.
