Margaret Marie Dowdy

Margaret Marie Dowdy, 54, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:05 am, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 20, 1971, the daughter of James William and Dorothy Geneva (Likens) Moss. On August 4, 2007, she married William A. Dowdy in Lakeland, Florida and he survives.

Margaret was a sweet loving woman, but she was tough. She was known to wear her heart on her sleeve and she was the person you would want in your corner. Margaret was the protector and would always stand up for her family. Her favorite role was being “Maw Maw” to her grandchildren. Margaret loved the time she spent caring for and spoiling her grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her husband, William; children, Donald Gene Moss, William Allen Dowdy II, Christina Nicole (Jessie) Kane, James David Sherbino, Travis Dewayne Sherbino, and Brandon Austin Dowdy; 13 grandchildren; siblings, James William Moss II and Donna (Donnie) Bell; 10 nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Dorothy Moss, and her niece, Brittany Ciera Bell.

A funeral service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 12 pm, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Haill officiating. Burial will follow in Tetersburg Cemetery. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
