Margaret Katherine Gargan Diehl

Margaret Katherine Gargan Diehl, 81, of Kokomo, passed away at 5:44 pm, Sunday, March 1, 2026, in her daughter (Melissa) and son-in-law’s (Darrin) home where she had resided for the past three years. She was born on January 29, 1945, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Murphy) Gargan. On June 24, 1967, she married Richard J. Diehl in Auburn, NY and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2022.

Margaret graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Auburn, NY and earned an associate’s degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse with SAADS Home Health for over 40 years. Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and was beyond proud of her 4 granddaughters. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Joan of Arc. She enjoyed shopping and watching shows such as Judge Judy and General Hospital.

Margaret is survived by her children, Melissa (Darrin) Fearnow and Margaret Ann (Tim) Barq Spiriti; grandchildren, Hillary Barq, Lauren Fearnow, Morgan Fearnow, and Kaitlyn Barq; great-grandchild, Leighton Marchioni; and beloved dog, Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Joseph and Margaret Gargan; and siblings, Jack Gargan, Peter Gargan, and Tom Gargan.
