Luke Andrew Newby, 34 but forever 11, passed away at 8:33 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Community Howard Regional Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on May 8, 1991, the son of Scott and Patricia (Brumley) Newby.
Luke was a 2010 graduate of Kokomo High School. He participated in the Special Olympics where he played basketball, pitch, jump, and running. He was a member of Mercy Church. Luke was a master at doing jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed going to basketball and baseball games, especially watching the cheerleader’s cheer. His favorite movies were Beauty and the Beast and 101 Dalmations. Luke’s favorite food was mac and cheese with sour cream. He loved Santa Claus, bowling, and Scooby Doo. He loved watching the Colts football team play and racing with his family.
Luke is survived by his mother and father, Patricia (Patti/Sisie) and Scott Newby; brothers, Johnathon (Amber) Brumley, Brian Brumley, and Matthew (Alisha) Newby; sister, Keisha (Jordan) Funk; nieces and nephews, Halie Brumley, Elijah Brumley, Brinn Salyers, Charles Newby, Wyatt Newby, and Adam Funk; grandmother, Shirley Wysor; and many numerous great aunts and uncles, aunts, uncles and 36 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Beecher Brumley and Ronald Lamb; grandparents, Charles and Eleanor Newby; and aunt, Joyce Newby.
A funeral service celebrating Luke’s life will be held at 12 pm Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Northview Church, 3409 S 200 W, Kokomo, IN 46902, with Pastor Bobby Carter and Pastor Allen Kincaid officiating. A burial in Brookside Cemetery will follow the service. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 13, 2026 at the church and 10 am to noon Saturday at the church. The family requests that those who attend wear their favorite Colts or racing apparel. Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
