Linda L. (Porter) Stroup

Linda L. Stroup, 74, Kokomo, passed away at 4:20 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023, at her home.  She was born June 28, 1948, in Logansport, the daughter of the late John Porter & C. Suzanne Chambers. 

Linda graduated from Logansport High School in 1966. She earned a Bachelor’s in Music from Butler University in 1971 and a Master’s in Art from Ball State University in 1974  Linda retired in 2013 as a Probation Officer after 33 years of service. 

Linda loved everyone, and they loved her back.  She had the ability to find the good and the hope within anyone.  Aside from people, she loved animals, and had a special place in her heart for Lake Michigan.  Linda was a fine musician-especially when it came to playing piano and was a master gardener as well. 

Linda is survived by her children, Ralph Stroup and Suzanna Stroup; granddaughter, Kaiya O’Neal, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Mike Porter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon Friday, February 10, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, with Rev. Fr. Stephen Duquaine the celebrant.  Burial will be at 2:30 pm in St. John Cemetery in Logansport.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Thursday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
