Linda Kaye Brookshire, 73, Burlington, passed away at 12:11 am Monday, August 1, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo. She was born on September 3, 1948, in Tazewell, TN, the daughter of the late William “Bill” Thurbon and Louise Payne.

Linda was a 1966 graduate of Kokomo High School and attended Ball State University. She retired from Delco Electronics after more than 30 years of service. Linda was a member of Faith Church of Christ in Burlington. She was an avid reader, and active in the Burlington Community Center. Linda enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her children, Tammy (Scott) McCain, Deer Creek, Greg (Michelle) Barnes, Flora, Doug (Amanda) Barnes, McMinville, OR, and David (Jessica) Rodgers, Westfield; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her 2 husbands, Jerry Barnes, and Don Brookshire; and grandchild, Paige Barnes.

A memorial service will be held at 6 pm, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Burlington Faith Church of Christ, 1701 Michigan Rd, Burlington, with Pastor Daniel Stephens officiating. Burial will take place in Burlington Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 4 pm until the start of the service on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo Humane Society in Linda’s memory. Stout & Son Funeral Home-Neptune Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
