Lila Lou (Dean) Broughton

Lila Lou Broughton, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 8:35 pm Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent in Kokomo.  She was born March 2, 1941, in Elwood, the daughter of the late Maurice & Marjorie (Runyan) Dean.

Lila was a 1959 graduate of Eastern High School.  She retired as a press operator for Syndicate Sales after 38 years of service.  Lila was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, watching wrestling, putting puzzles together, socializing with friends and looked forward to family gatherings.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Jerome Christian Church.

Lila is survived by her son, James (Madge) Broughton; siblings, Larry (Sheryl) Dean and Susan (Ralph) Taylor; grandson, Adam (Jamie) Earnheart; great-grandsons, Zane and J.D.; step-grandchildren, Shandell Eller, Megan Hollis and Taylor Hollis; step-great-grandchildren, Zipora Jade and Lucy.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dave Earnheart; and brother, Wayne Dean.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, June 22, 2026, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main Street, Greentown.  Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 am until time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made in Lila’s memory to Jerome Christian Church or the American Heart Association.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.hasler-stout.com.
